DRW College is an Aided Autonomous College established under D. R. Society for Women and Child welfare, sponsored by Rotary Club, Gudur. It was started with the noble thought to educate the women community, especially from rural and backward sector, to empower not just with education but with moral values and social skills.

The College was started during the year 1981 with 56 students and 6 teaching staff members. The college management follows the Saying of Swami Vivekananda “Arise, Awake and Stop not till the goal is reached” and continue their efforts to develop the institution in all aspects. The present strength of the college is 1107 and with 57 teaching faculty.

The college was admitted into grant-in-aid during 1990 by the A.P. Govt. and admitted to UGC section 2 (f) and 12 (b) in the year 1993. Now the college offers 13 UG Programmes and 7 PG programmes including two UGC sponsored Innovative programmes at P.G.level and No.of need based Certificate and Diploma Courses are in force.

This is the first affiliated college in the entire S.V. University area that volunteered for NAAC accreditation and it was accredited by NAAC with B++ grade during 2004 with 82.05 score and it is also the first college to have volunteered for Re-accreditation during 2010 and it was Re-Accredited by NAAC with “A” grade with 3.14 CGPA in 2010.

The college was granted autonomous status by the UGC in 2010 and it was the only autonomous college in the entire S.V. University area. The college was brought under the purview of Vikrama Simhapuri University, a newly established university in Nellore District during 2010. Again it is the first college to have volunteered for 3rd Cycle of accreditation in 2014 in the entire V.S. University area and is accredited with ‘A’ grade with 3.31 CGPA.
